I'm Poutine it in My Mouth!!

Today is a good day, thanks to all my bloggedy friends who check in and show me love.

A few weeks ago my sister and I did the Savor Seattle Food Tour, it’s a two hour walking tour of Pike Place Market, and we tried about 16 different tastes of the market. If you ever get to Seattle, it’s totally worth your time and money. Not only do you get to taste yummy foods, but you get to learn market history, it’s something that unless you take the time to smell the roses you’d miss.

Here’s some pix from the day…

I’m no longer a poutine virgin, this was one of the most amazing things I have put in my mouth. The cheese curds were fresh from Beecher’s Cheese in the market, home of Oprah’s favorite Mac n Cheese. The gravy wasn’t greezy, and I think it was turkey, or maybe pork, either way. I’m in love. Thank you Steelhead Diner for the amazing poutine experience!! (this wasn’t part of the tour)

We didn’t eat this, but I thought it was funny

This is the market Gum Wall, yes, it’s all gum

More Gum Wall

We saw this cool cat, he was workin’ it.
I’m pretty sure he shops here…

Our cute little tour guide, I wish he lived closer so he could be my gay boyfriend.

  1. OH NO YOU DIDN'T!! You ate poutine?! And you LIKED it?!?!?!?!

I don't know what to say.

  2. I am going to take your word on the poutine as you and I seem to find the same things funny or interesting.  It would only make sense that we share the same taste of food.  I don't get how that could be delicious but if you say so, I believe you.

LOVED (really...loved, loved) your pictures.  That all looks so fun.  Did you add some gum to the gum wall??

I think we all need a gay boyfriend but alas out here in KC suburbia they typcially don't go for the old married housewife types.  Sucks for me.

  3. The curds were a little weird, I'm not a fan of food that squeeks, and they didn't stick to the fries very well. But I will eat gravy on just about anything.

I did ad gum to the gum wall, and instantly tried to take a picture of it, but I couldn't find where I put it. They have a big gumball machine in an alcove by the wall too just in case you don't already have gum.

  4. I know how you feel about poutine Nicky, but I have to tell you it was great

  5. That gum wall looks fantastic, if a bit germified (my own word).

  6. It was listed as one of the top 10 germiest places on earth, along with the Blarney Stone.

  7. YUCK! Can you imagine kissing the Blarney Stone?

  8. Pretty sure I'd catch gonokaka. (that's what I call a myriad of STD's)

  9. Didn't see the fish throwing action but I hear that it's a big thing there, as it is in San Fran(?)

Gah! Poutine? I like fries.  I like gravy. I even like cheese curds.   I LOVE fries with gravy. But, gawd, put those curds on fries with gravy?  I'd lose my lunch which, in turn, would much resemble poutine.   Sorry.

Hey, I'm sure it tastes great - I just can't handle the visual on that.

I love the fluted downspouts - never seen those before.  I suppose they use to put plants in them.  What a novel idea!

  10. Nope, not San Fran we were in Seattle WA, I live near Olympia.

One of my favorite bad foods is the Kentucky fried chicken biscuit bowl, I think it's Americanized poutine.
Mashed potatoes, brown gravy, chicken nuggets, corn a biscuit and grated cheese. Mmmmmmm

For the fish throwing and the one man band ya gotta click it.

The fluted down spouts were just PVC pipe with an elbow and a three way splitter, I had never seen that before either, it would be cute to do on a potting shed or something, I wouldn't risk rotting my house out with the run off.

  11. I liked the one man band red haired boy.  He looked fine sideways.  I've always wanted to see Seattle.  I think that's where they filmed 9 1/2 Weeks.  I've heard it's a very interesting city.  Your photos are great.  But I'm not eating anything called Poontang,  I'll go with the fish and chips!

  12. Oh, I knew you were in Seattle, I just didn't realize that fish throwing thingy was a link.  Frankly, I wouldn't want to risk be fish-slapped in the face.  Bitch-slapped, maybe.  Okay, maybe not.

  13. Yay! I'm glad you're back to blogging. I've missed you!

I love me some poutine!  And that wall of gum is either awesome, or gross. I can't decide!

  14. So glad you lost your poutine virginity! I wish I had no idea what it tasted like so I wouldn't crave it every other day!

  15. That gum wall is so nasty!  But the downspouts are awesome!

  16. Yay!! Kim thanks for stopping by!! Yeah, the gum wall is pretty gross, but pretty cool at the same time.

  17. I won't tell you that the fries were so crisp they snapped even in the gravy then. Sorry I'm a bitch, stay strong.

  18. Feels good to be back honey, thanks. Gum wall is pretty cool to see in person, maybe you could start one in your town.

  19. Whatever you've ate poontang, didn't know about 9 1/2 weeks but they definitely filmed sleepless in Seattle there.

  20. Hah!! I was far enough back to avoid fish slapping

  21. Fun, natural gifts made from poo poo? Really?

Your photos are great and it looks like you and your sister had quite a little adventure! Maybe you should kidnap the gay boyfriend and take him to your town. I'm sure he wouldn't mind a bit.

  22. Poutine?  Poo?  Did the letter 'P' appeal to you that weekend?

    :)

I'm glad you had fun.  I'll have to remember that tasting tour.    I love the photos.  I'll pass on the gum wall. Ew.
