Dodging Cars

I work on the third floor of an office building that overlooks one of the busiest streets in town. Today I heard this banging sound and looked out the window. This man, I’m thinking is a city employee, was trying to get the cover off a hole in the street, without cones. He would bang a few times, and then get out of the street to let cars pass.
This went on for about 5 minutes, unfortunately I only caught the last few. Sorry about my dirty window, had to be all stealthy.
Then for the next 20 minutes or so he stared at the water in the gutter, there was a sprinkler head behind him in the landscaping. I'm thinking it was on last night and filled the gutter with water, but it hasn't evaporated yet.

  1. It must have been a slow day at the office.  :)

  2. There is a guy that moves at his own pace.  I guess there is no urgency to finish this job as that would require  him to track down another project to stare at.

  3. I'm amazed he even attempted the job without at least one other worker to watch traffic.
    Risky stuff.

  4. What he's doing doesn't make any sense. Why is he alone without traffic cones? And he doesn't appear to be wearing a uniform. Where I live, the city workers wear uniforms.

How is he gonna get anything done like this? And how are you gonna get anything done while you have to film him doing this?

  5. I know! He could have at least put a sign up and divert traffic for a few minutes, I thought he was going to get hit especially when he would squat down in the road.
I didn't watch him the whole time, but whenever I looked out he was just staring at the gutter. I want that job.

  6. I know! Budgets are tight but not so tight he should risk getting hit.

  7. I could never work at that pace, it would put me to sleep.

  8. Madge.  This man is not a City employee.  He is a bank robber and he hid the bags of money down there.  When you see the "Wanted" poster, you will get the reward for his arrest and conviction.  I'm impressed.
