OH! The Things You Will See!!!

Last Sunday we went to the Folk Life Festival in Seattle, I love the FLF mostly because it's one of the only times of the year that I get to go to "The City" and I love the energy of the city so much, but mostly I love the freaks. Steve says that I'm a "freak magnet" I'm not sure how true that is, but I'm pretty sure that it's not a bad thing.

The following is a pictorial of our day at FLF.

This is the cool plaid SUV we saw on the way, the bumper sticker says Scottish Pride

This puppet was singing You Should Be Swinging on a Star

This chick has issues, she loves squirrels so much she had one tattooed on her leg

What a cool group, they reminded me of a bunch of singing pirates, except for the drummer, he reminded me of a homeless person or a caveman and Mary Kay Latourno there in the dress played the bamboo pipes with flip flops

Space Needle

This is the mirror man, I know it looks like a statue, but he's a performer

Look closely you'll see that's not his beard in the pony, it's his hair tied under his chin

Another street performer, look how skinny he is

He was wearing an old UW Huskies cheer leading skirt.... SO HOT

It wasn't especially warm, probably about 60, I think the kid in the rain coat has the right idea

I bought this cool wine rack at the Packwood Flea Market on Saturday for $4.50

Monday we bought a bunch of flowers to plant in hanging baskets, I always over-buy and wound up having to make some new flower beds too.

  1. I think the puppet should have been singing "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard and the street performer is probably malnourished! haha! Loved this Madge!

  3. It looks like you had an amazing time...love your pictures! And it sounds like my kinda Sunday. The wine rack was a really good buy...I love flea markets. And your flowers are beautiful. It took you long enough to post, but it was worth it.

  4. We had a lot of fun, I love looking at the different people and hearing all the music. I've been so crazy busy lately, it seems all my posts run about a week behind. I usually post on my lunch, but I've been taking my dog to the vet every other day so I have to skip lunch to make up the time. Nothing serious, she has an infected nail bed but he has to change her bandages ever other day.

  5. I was only teasing you about taking so long to post. You have a job and your hubby and plenty more to keep you busy. I'm glad your dog doesn't have something serious...must be fun to spend so much time at the vet! Hope she's feeling back to normal soon. :)

  6. I know you were teasing :)
she feels fine, her toe is just gross, fortunately he only charges me for bandage supplies and doesn't charge me the office visit, and I think he's gay, and I'm looking for a new gay boyfriend, so maybe he'll decide I'm cool and we can hang out.

  7. That ponytail is creepy.

Mirror Man?  Hum...just figments of myself.

    Snort.

Sounds like a fun time.  Congrats on the wine rack.  I have a bad habit of over-buying flowers, too.

  8. I love the people watching at Festivals.  Isn't it just so interesting how one species can come in so many varities. Who knew there were mirror men??  It does look like a fun day.

  10. Fun pics!  I'm all for celebrating one's heritage, but a plaid car?  That cracks me up.

  11. Takes me back to when I frequented our Cambridge Folk festival. What a brilliant, music filled weekend it was, and still is but I'm too old for all that camping out now ;)  I love the mirror man - and the car!

  12. I'm loving the Scottish Pride SUV.  So funny.  I like that idea much more the car someone covered with stuffed animals.  People watching is the best.  Really love the wine rack - great deal.

  15. That looks a lot like festivals I used to attend.   Was there a sweet smell of cannabis permeating the air?   Oh, please tell me there was.  ;)

  16. The sweet smell of cannabis was in the air, it was everywhere actually, but we
didn't see anybody smoking. The cops are pretty lenient about it, the center
    hosts hemp fest too.

  19. I kept trying to get it for 2.00 the dude wasn't having it, but I still got a great deal, he wanted 6

  20. To do it right I'd have to be there the whole weekend it's a pretty big deal, there's about 15 stages on at all times.

  21. It was a totally super fantastic time... Where have you been, everything ok?

  22. He was an improv singer, pretty funny too

  23. How do you even wash a car covered in stuffed animals? With laundry soap?

  24. You're only as old as you feel Babs, I love to camp out, but you can't do it at the center unless you want to get rolled.

  25. Yeah, I bet that cost him a pretty penny, I'm hoping that it's bus wrap and not paint, he'll have a hard time reselling it.

  26. It was fun, thanks for stopping by.

  27. I love to watch people it's really hard for me not to point, but my mamma raised me right I usually point with my nose, took my husband some time to get used to.

  28. Figments of myself, funny Reffie.

  29. You are right. You are only as old as you feel. I still feel 30 but physically camping out is impossible for me now - and scary.

  30. I luv the pictures! you've got an eye: how did you notice the squirrel tattoo?! lol. The wine rack is such a great find, looks quite arty.

  31. That girl stood right in front of me for about 10 minutes, and it was about as tall as a tall Starbucks cup, not the best tat I've seen, but one of the most interesting. The rack is fun, it's sitting next to the glasses but I can't keep bottles around long enough to load it up.
