I Spent the Weekend on Jack

The Yellow Line is the Route We Took
This is The Jack. It belongs to our friends Lee and Kathy Geist, they charter rides at the Alderbrook Resort in Union WA. This is their website http://captainleellc.com/jack.html  The Jack is a beautiful boat, if I ever had the opportunity to own a boat it would be one like The Jack. They keep The Jack in Shelton, and to bring it around it's a 16 hour ride. I took this picture in the Edmonds Marina.

We saw lots of porpous's, seals and sealions. Lee is very knowledgable about Puget Sound history and wildlife. He is really good at pointing things out and telling stories about them. When you go out with them, you always come back having learned something new. They are great hosts.

After we docked, we went up to Anthony's and had some appetizers, strange thing about the lounge in Anthony's, there is no view of the water or the marina. Design: Fail

It's amazing to me how many mansions are on the coastline of Puget Sound. Hotel sized Mansions, perched atop the bluffs, most of them right at the edge, I'm sure they weren't at the edge when they were being built, but they are now, and there's nothing anybody can do about it.

I feel so relaxed today, and I still can feel the boat when I'm sitting. It's a good thing.

  1. That really sounds marvelous!  I am not crazy about water, (I don't swim), but if it's not too long, I could do it.  Alex spent 4 years in the Navy and hate boats of any kind!  LOL!

  2. I just love being on the boat, it's like a mini vacation. The hum of the motors is mesmerizing, I could just sleep the whole time, but then I'd miss so much. I took some other really cool pictures too. I'm finally learning how to use my camera.

  4. I am so jealous of your fun weekend! It sounds amazing! Only now I'm really worried about those mansions.

  6. We have some pretty big houseboats in these parts, but I don't think they'd pass for mansions.
PS tried to grab your button and the coding is weird, want me to re-write it for you?

  7. It was a great weekend, they offered to let us ride back around with them when they dock it in the fall. I'm totally in.
I should have taken some pictures of the ones that are dangerously close, they are up so high, and pretty much don't have front yards any more because they've washed down.

  10. I'm a little jealous of them because they have the boat. But I'm glad they share it with us and don't charge us to take rides.

  11. We'd never get to spend time with them if they did :)

  12. I love that part of the country.  It's so pretty and it's amazing how long it takes to get around in all that water.  It looks so tiny on the map.

    :)

  13. The thing is, if he would pull it out of the water and drive it to Union, it would be about a 20 minute drive. But I guess it's more expensive to do that than to drive it around. I was really surprized at that, especially with the cost of diesel, at $4.50 a gallon.

  14. What a perfect time.  I'd love to do something about that.  Unfortunately, I don't know Jack.  ;)

  16. When I saw the title of your post I was picturing all sort of weird drunken, dirty things. Boats are fun though.

Hey, congrats on your win over at Chicktuition. You rock!

  18. If I hadn't seen the boat, I would have thought you were living on a bottle of Jack Daniels all weekend!

    Heh, heh.

I love boating, even though I prefer sailing, but isn't it weird the way you feel once back on solid ground?  You kinda feel drunk but you're not.

  19. I've never been sailing. My friend Nate always wanted to take us, but we've never gone. I can still feel the boat a little today too. It's so weird. My godparents had a huge yacht growing up, we used to jump when the waves would take the boat down, it's like pulling 0 g's.

    Great headline.

I've taken two boat rides in that same area. It's really beautiful, and I love the water. I need some friends like Lee and Kathy, that's for sure.

  25. It's awesome when you have friends who own a beautiful big boat! I thought the weekend on Jack meant Jack Daniels or some hottie named Jack.  Both of those would've ben great too!  Glad you had fun!
