I decided to sew Haley a couple of play dresses, one for Christmas and one for her birthday on the 27th.
I haven't sewn from a pattern since middle school. I'm not even going to tell you how long ago that was.
Turns out I didn't forget how, one dress down, one more to go.
That takes me back to when my mum made us our special 'Party' dresses for Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, Madge...it's gorgeous! She'll absolutely love it! Can't wait to see the second one and how she looks in them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I kind of surprised myself, I was worried it would be a big piece of crap, and I'd have to go buy her something instead.
ReplyDeleteMy mom sewed a lot, some of the stuff I really didn't like, but when I look back at pictures, I remember all the things she made for me, she worked hard outside the home and inside. I learned a lot from her.
ReplyDeleteMy mum was always making and mending too. With 7 kids during and after WWII she needed to. She'd even been known to make our underwear at times. Kids were not clothes conscious in those days, so whatever she made we wore happily. I think we do learn a lot from our mum. I made my own clothes all of my young life. I even made my own wedding dress :)
ReplyDeleteawesomeness!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. No one ever sewed me a play dress...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you got a good squeal and hug for that pretty dress. Well done Madge!
ReplyDeleteCute dress! I wish I was young enough to pull it off.
ReplyDeleteYou are, and you're pretty enough too.
