Just Past Mid-Year Update on New Years Resolutions

I've been thinking about the resolutions I made at the beginning of 2011, I think it's time to check in and see how I've done.

Here they are my updates are in bold.

Thoughts are things and words are actions, I’ll be putting my resolutions out for the world to see.

Remember next Christmas to buy a tree skirt garbage bag to wrap the tree in when we’re through with it, and don’t wrap the trunk of the tree in lights.

Still waiting to see if I do that it's important though, I don't want to have to do this to my tree again to get the lights off of it.

Stop licking envelopes, I have a sponge licker, and I need to use it. Licking envelopes is gross.

I think I have only licked a couple, this one was easier than I thought

Read more and watch less TV

It has come to my attention that I am a blog addict, I read blogs most of the night, I started reading a book in January, I have yet to finish it, but reading blogs is still reading right?

Finish craft projects that I start. I have a bag of tampon angels that I started a year ago Christmas that don’t have halos, wings or faces. Two quilts that are half done, and an afghan that I started on vacation about 6 years ago that really need to be finished and donated. Which brings me to number 5

Yeah, so I got nothin' to say about this, but all of those things are still left unfinished

Give more, I give a lot of my time, energy, and money to family, work and friends, but not enough to the community.

Turns out "my community" includes my blog community, I did try to help a little with the Tribal Blogs Con, I don't have enough followers to make a huge impact, but at least I tried.

I should stop drinking, but it’s all about setting goals I can achieve, so I’ll just say, drink less.

Around the first of the year I did drink less, not at all actually, then I drank a little more, then I drank less again, summer time more, now I'm back to less.

I am going to think before I hormonally speak. I’m all menopausal, and I am very snappy and snide when I don’t mean it. I really need to focus on choosing my words and tone carefully.

Still working on this one, but Lexapro seems to be helping.

I am going to spend more time with my family. Including my brother Lumpy Dumpy the Big Fat Ape, even though he stares at my chest.

I can't force myself to spend time with Lumpy, but I have been spending more time with my sister, and talking to my mom on the phone more regularly.

I’m trying really hard not to keep important notes on post-its, I have stacks of them with random info on my desk that I sort through periodically and toss.

I'm doing pretty good here, except for my desk had gone a little "Beautiful Mind" last week, I can't really explain it.

This one is the biggy. I am going to try to let go of the people that don’t give back the love they get. I’m going to try to let go of the things that are taking up space in my mind, my heart, and my life so that I can give more to the people who truly deserve it.

This one will forever be a work in progress, I have managed to let go of a few people, I can't say it feels good, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

So that’s it, it’s out there. Now I just need to stop procrastinating and get it done…
Oh yeah.
Stop Procrastinating
Getting better at it, but there's so many blogs to read and so little time :)

Dog Pee Picasso The Series.... Woodstock

Seriously, aside from the tail, I think the little fella nailed it again!!!! Maybe it's just a mother's love and I'm trying to see things that aren't there. But I still think it's talent.

Cheryl's Been Talking About Me Again :)~

Cheryl at The Art of Being Conflicted nominated my little bloggy home for this fun meme, it's a great chance to drag some old posts out for new eyes, I don't know who thought of it, but thanks Cheryl!!! If you haven't been over there, Cheryl is great, we think a lot alike, and I know you would love her too.

Here's the rules:
1.  The blogger who is nominated must publish 7 links of his/her own blog for the categories below. (1 link per category)

2. The blogger then nominates 5-7 bloggers to take part, and it (hopefully) goes on.

For some reason my links aren't underlined, so they're in bold.

7. Post that I am Most Proud Of

The post I’m most proud of would probably be I’m Really Frustrated, where I got to vent about people that neglect and abuse the elderly, if only I could shout their names from the rooftops, I would really be satisfied.

6.  Post that Didn't Get the Attention it Deserved

I was pretty new at blogging, but The Good, The Bad, The Lumpy was a pretty good one

5.  Most Surprising Successful Post

4.  Most Helpful Post

My most helpful post would have to be Product Review Time

3.  Most Controversial Post

I don’t do controversy, I try to only do entertaining, so how about some fun animals I made out of Tampons?

2. Most Popular Post

By comment count, some of them mine, He Drove an Orange Gremlin got the most.

1. Most Beautiful Post

I don’t generally go for beauty either, I prefer fun, but here’s a little ditty about a song verse that struck me.

Now I get to list 5-7 blogs to play along....

First I have to say that Linda at The Good, The Bad, The Worse has been my loyalist of all loyal followers, it is because of her and (2) MWJ at Too Many Mornings that I ever started blogging, I am so thankful or maybe not, because I am officially a blog addict, blogs are always on my mind, and so are you my dear friends.

3. My friend Abby at R is for Ronnebeck! Abby is a very talented photographer, and a super fun girl, who just started learning to Roller Derby! Go Abby!!!!

4. Theresa at A Mountain Momma, I haven't been following her for very long, but has a great sense of humor, and her blog is always a good read.

5. OO over at When I Reach She's in the Bahama's not to be confused with Cuba, she has been around since the beginning too, and I wish her well through hurricane season, I know somethings bearing down on them right now. She's definitely in my thoughts.

So there you have it, check them out.

When I Look Back

It’s another Saturday Centus, Ms. Jenny has given us a very thought provoking post this week, as usual, and I hope that y’all enjoy what I have written.
This week we get 150 words, plus the prompt “If I die young”

This one was easier for me this week for some reason, and my word count came out at 149 total. Lucky me because I didn’t want to have to take out any words.

When I Look Back

I’ve never thought about my own mortality. But what if I die young? I have always had an old soul, or so I’ve been told. Wise beyond my years, so I suppose that dying young was never an option. I’m almost forty, but most days I feel older, I don’t know why.

When I look back at my life when I am old and gray, I want to have the satisfaction of knowing that I lived the best life I could have lived. That I imparted wisdom when it was needed, and listened when it was most important. That I tried to leave beauty behind me wherever I traveled, and that I touched lives in the most positive way possible. I want to know that I shared of myself as much as others shared with me, and I loved with my whole heart even when it was being broken.

We Went Camping & Redneck Ramblings

We had planned to go camping last weekend, and invited the in laws out for dinner. F.I.L decided he needed to buy a motor home and quick!!
He went to look at one and called us on Thursday night, he's an Arkie, so he has a pretty thick southern accent. The conversation went like this

F.I.L - I think I'm going to buy a motor home, I went and looked at one today guy only wants $2300 for it.
Steve - $2300? how are the tires, does it have any body damage, does everything work?
F.I.L - The front tires are good, I couldn't see the back ones, it has some body damage, and the fridge is broken
Steve - The fridge is broken? Those are expensive aren't they?
F.I.L - Yeah, but the guy said I could go buy a small on at the home DEE-POE and just plug it in. It doesn't run very good, they guy is going to put a fuel filter on it tomorrow, oh and it needs brakes. He said it would take about $3000 worth of work to get it ready for the road, but it's good enough to live in. I'm just dumb enough to buy it.

The thing about F.I.L is when he gets and idea in his head he doesn't rest until he gets what he wants. He always buys the first thing he sees, and sells it a few months later at a profit.

Steve texted Sis
Steve- So what kind of a piece of crap is dad buying
Sis - A huge piece of crap, but I can't get him to change his mind, I'm printing ads off CraigsList right now.
Steve - He said it needs brakes
Sis - 3 of the brakes are frozen, and it's on top of that long hill that leads down to the canal. He thinks he can drive it home, but the guy told him that if he bought it he wouldn't let him have it unless he called a tow truck.

Friday
F.I.L - I bought a motor home from a lady down the street!! It's real nice too, 1986 27' and I only paid $3200 for it, I'm bringing it out to the lake tomorrow.

Saturday
F.I.L shows up to the lake with his "real nice" 1986 motor home, the toilet isn't bolted to the floor, and it moves back and forth about 6 inches, and it smells.

Sunday
We went home

Tuesday Sis calls and asks Steve if he's coming out because the toilet is broken and they want him to fix it.
Steve shows up, takes the toilet out and sets it outside.
F.I.L sitting in his hoveround - Steve hand me that toilet
Steve - There's still toilet water in it
F.I.L I don't care just hand it here - Takes the toilet, dumps the toilet water all over himself, sets it down and says "I think it's time for lunch".
Sis - Dad, don't you think you should go in and wash your hands?
F.I.L - Na just get me a washcloth.

He doesn't shower when they are camping, there's a shower at the campground, and there's also one in the motor home, but he won't bathe until he gets home, they aren't coming home until this Friday.

We were there Friday and Saturday, this was our view - I love to camp, next time we're going North so that they won't want to come along, and we aren't telling them we are going.

We Had a Bird in the House

The other night while we were getting things together to go camping, I heard the strangest noise. I looked up and we had a little bird in our skylight. I hollered for Steve, all he could say is “oh my God it’s shitting everywhere, get me the ladder and my gloves, where’s the broom!! If that thing shits on me I’m going to kill it!!!”

This is Steve attempting to shoo it out with a broom

Yes, you're right, I need to clean the outside of my skylights.
But my camera has crap on the lens inside that I can't get out too, so it's not all window.
I ran and got his gloves while he got the ladder, but I got him two rights. I don’t know why he thought he could just grab the little fella. I went and got a dark towel, and cornered him at the bottom of the skylight, gently pressed the towel against him and started rolling it up. It only took a second to secure his little bird body in the towel, I took him outside, unrolled the towel and he flew off.

I said “I feel bad for the little guy, he was so scared”
Steve said “don’t feel bad for him, he got an experience that most birds don’t get, he got to come in the house…. now get up there and clean all that shit off the walls”

It's definitely love :)

Dodging Cars

I work on the third floor of an office building that overlooks one of the busiest streets in town. Today I heard this banging sound and looked out the window. This man, I’m thinking is a city employee, was trying to get the cover off a hole in the street, without cones. He would bang a few times, and then get out of the street to let cars pass.
This went on for about 5 minutes, unfortunately I only caught the last few. Sorry about my dirty window, had to be all stealthy.
Then for the next 20 minutes or so he stared at the water in the gutter, there was a sprinkler head behind him in the landscaping. I'm thinking it was on last night and filled the gutter with water, but it hasn't evaporated yet.

You Are My Sunshine

It's been a long time since I have participated in the Saturday Centus,
I get to use any 50 words plus the prompt You Are My Sunshine and a picture.

You Are My Sunshine

When my world is dark you make it bright
When I feel the shadows have crept in and are holding me tight
You smile or laugh and I am alright
You are smart and funny the sweetest love of my life
I love you my granddaughter Haley
You are my sunshine.

I'm Poutine it in My Mouth!!

Today is a good day, thanks to all my bloggedy friends who check in and show me love.

A few weeks ago my sister and I did the Savor Seattle Food Tour, it’s a two hour walking tour of Pike Place Market, and we tried about 16 different tastes of the market. If you ever get to Seattle, it’s totally worth your time and money. Not only do you get to taste yummy foods, but you get to learn market history, it’s something that unless you take the time to smell the roses you’d miss.

Here’s some pix from the day…

I’m no longer a poutine virgin, this was one of the most amazing things I have put in my mouth. The cheese curds were fresh from Beecher’s Cheese in the market, home of Oprah’s favorite Mac n Cheese. The gravy wasn’t greezy, and I think it was turkey, or maybe pork, either way. I’m in love. Thank you Steelhead Diner for the amazing poutine experience!! (this wasn’t part of the tour)

We didn’t eat this, but I thought it was funny

This is the market Gum Wall, yes, it’s all gum

More Gum Wall

We saw this cool cat, he was workin’ it.
I’m pretty sure he shops here…

Cool Downspouts
Cute Dried Pepper Hangy Thingys

Our cute little tour guide, I wish he lived closer so he could be my gay boyfriend.
